A Hypnotic Coaching Approach To Fear of Flying

hypnosis Mar 29, 2018

The fear of flying is a common issue that hypnotists see with clients.  Here are some easy steps for helping clients break fear.

1 Understanding the Real Problem

Clients do not have a fear of flying.  They have a fear of crashing, confined space, or of not being in control.  When you know where your client sits in these categories it becomes much easier to help them change.

2 Normailzing the Fear of Crashing

It is natural to be afraid of crashing.  In fact I'd be more concerned if I had a client who wasn't afraid of this.  I typically tell my clients this to introduce some laughter, let them know there is nothing wrong with them, and begin the process of reframing.

3 Strategies

Fear of flying clients have some very predictable strategies (in NLP terms) for doing the fear.  I elicit the strategy to help bring to conscious awareness that the client is creating and perpetuating the issue.  Once it's in...

Success With Polarity Responders

hypnosis hypnotherapy Mar 22, 2018

Polarity responders at first can come across as negative or "resistant" clients.  They can easily frustrate hypnotists who just want to help but it's as if the hypnotist is hitting a brick wall.  You can easily avoid this frustration by understanding that it's not the client being negative or resistant (in most cases and assuming you screen your clients first) and it's nothing personal toward you.  The polarity response is wired into to how these clients think.  It's often tied to curiosity, problem solving, and creative thinking.  Embrace the polarity response and use it!

2 Key Ways to Utilize Polarity Responses In Your Hypnosis Sessions

1) The Knot Induction

You can use their response as the path way into hypnosis as described in the video.  When you have them negate your statements as described above you are indirectly inviting the client to give herself simple  embedded suggestions.  The key is to emphasize the...

[VIDEO DEMO] Nested Loops

hypnosis induction nlp Feb 01, 2018

Nested loops are a powerful story telling strategy that will transform presentations and for the natural born story tellers out there, client sessions.  In the video above Jess demonstrates a nested loop within a live training.  This story telling technique is important tool for presentations because it gently bypasses the critical faculties of audience members by not putting any pressure on groups members to respond in any specific way.  Most people do not consciously recognize absorption as hypnosis so you are able to take this skill into group settings where formal hypnosis may not be appropriate.

Why nested loops as opposed to single stories?

Firstly, they allow you do a number of things at once.  We will explore this more in the next section.

Secondly, they give you tremendous freedom and scope to hypnotically and covertly address the needs of specific group members and reinforce multiple themes at one go.

Coach: what would you like to work through today?

Client: I have to give a presentation next week and I would like to feel a lot more confident about it.

Coach: great, where is the presentation?

Client: it’s in the office, I'll be giving it in the boardroom.

Coach: great, and what you want to achieve in the presentation?

Client: I want to convince them to go ahead with my project.

Coach: and when you get to the end of the presentation, how will you know if you have achieved that? What will you see that will let you know that they are in favor of your project? I know that at some stage they will tell you, but what will you see right there and then that will let you know your presentation has been a success?

Client: I guess I would see them smiling and nodding.

Coach: Okay great. Today we...

5 Hypnosis Urban Legends Hypnotists Believe

hypnosis hypnotherapy May 05, 2016

Even after all these years hypnosis is still shrouded in myth, suspicion, and misinformation in the general public's imaginings.  Sometimes even hypnotists fall into the trap of believing urban legends about hypnosis.  These myths aren't from pop culture however, they are passed around hypnosis circles as if they were truth.  Throughout our training careers we have heard a number of these myths from students and experienced hypnotists alike and we wanted to take a moment to reframe some of the most common myths we have heard.

If you haven't experienced these beliefs then congratualtions for being ahead of the game.  If you have experienced these beliefs then also congratualtions for stepping in a new direction.

Coach: What would you like to work through today?

Client: I’m torn between continuing my consulting work and leaving to pursue my writing.

Coach: OK, so it’s like you’re being pulled in two different directions.

 Client: Yes.

Coach: On one hand you want to continue your work and on the other pursue the writing.

Client: Right.

Coach: So, I’m curious: this part of you that wants to continue on with the consulting work, what is it doing for you? What are you getting out of it?

Client: It’s more lucrative, so there’s money involved. Money lets me pay my rent, pay my bills. The work is interesting and I enjoy it and it gives me a sense of security, of knowing I can go back to it full-time if I...

NLP Modeling vs. Deep Trance Identification

NLP modeling techniques and Deep Trance Identification both have the end goal of helping people to step into greater levels of personal excellence by teaching us how to learn from others who are masterful in the areas that we would like to improve.

Modeling and DTI come at this from different ends of the spectrum.  NLP modeling is a deductive process that relies on the modeler to consciously elicit and impliment unconscious information from the model.  DTI on the other hand is an inductive approach that allows both the modeler and model to experience the skill and way of being on the uncsoncious level rather than making it conscious.

An example of this would be the hypnotist who spends hundreds of hours analyzing Milton Erickson's work and creating a conscious explanation for it versus the hypnotist who steps into Erickson's shoes and feels what it is like to do hypnosis as Erickson.

Both approaches compliment each other and are useful in the...
